Amy Anderson

With a career built across events, nonprofits, sales, and operations, Amy brings a rare mix of strategic thinking and roll-up-your-sleeves execution.

Rise & Rooted exists because she believes every organization — no matter the size — deserves systems that actually work, events that bring people together, and causes that get the support they deserve.

Off the clock, Amy co-founded Arthur's Avengers, serves on the boards of the Brooklyn Center Crime Prevention Program and Fly Fishing Women of Minnesota (as treasurer), sits on the Concordia St. Paul Athletics alumni advisory board, and coaches youth hockey, baseball, and softball.

Where we learned to do it all at once.

Gretchen Enselein and I co-founded Arthur's Avengers in 2023, a Minnesota nonprofit supporting families facing childhood cancer, and together we lead its events and communications. We plan it, organize it, write it, and design it, so we know what it takes to pull off an event with a small team and a real budget.

Planning

  • Swing for Childhood Cancer golf tournament, with a full run of show from volunteer arrival to checkout
  • Friendship Forward build days: a three-step volunteer flow to sort, fill by age, and add handwritten notes
  • The Hat Bar, a repeatable activation that raises money for partner organizations
  • PigTober Fest promotion and our Give to the Max Day campaign

Organization

  • A donation tracker covering about 230 businesses across three years
  • A 27-basket raffle and 14-lot silent auction, with online bidding open a week early
  • Inventory tracking for care bag supplies, hats, and patches
  • Packing lists, volunteer assignments, and post-event settlement statements

Communication

  • Annual donation request letters and sponsor asks
  • Emcee scripts, sponsor thank-yous, and Swing With Your Heart Award remarks
  • Volunteer reminders and fundraising emails
  • Partner coordination with Brave Like Cloe, Wishes & More, the Nickel Open, and Heavy Rotation Brewing

Design & creative

  • A traveling booth kit: story signs, banners, table throw, yard sign, and a volunteer playbook
  • A modular sign system with velcro tiles, so one printed sign works at every event
  • Event flyers, sponsor signs, and custom honoree patches
  • The Hat Bar concept: "Tell us who you're here for, and we'll tell you about Arthur."

Behind every event is the work nobody sees. We worked to build it once, and we continue to improve it each year. We bring that same approach to the nonprofits we support.

Giving back to causes close to ours

Hog Roast & Sauce Contest to Cure Brain Cancer

Rise & Rooted Collective donated its time to help this community fundraiser for brain cancer research tell its story and reach more people.

How we helped

Website build

Designed and built the event website as the home base for event details, the sauce contest, and ways to give.

Design center

Created a central design hub with the event's look, voice, and assets, which powered the website and all event content so everything stayed consistent.

Communication plan

Helped map out the messaging and outreach leading up to the event, then turned that work into a reusable project other organizers can use to build their own communication plan.

Boots on the ground

Gretchen Enselein and I attended the event on September 19, serving food and supporting the cause in person.

Why we did it

Through Arthur's Avengers, the nonprofit Gretchen and I co-founded for children facing cancer, we know what it takes to run a cause on heart and volunteer hours. Supporting organizations in the same fight is part of how Rise & Rooted does business.
